Since
1988, the conflict between two neighboring states in the Caucasus Armenia and
Azerbaijan continues. Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan
creates great threats to both regional and European security. The war between
the two states starting from the beginning day of the conflict continues at the
same time in the virtual world. While international law supports de jure
territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, world media show a one-sided approach
especially when you get information about the war in the virtual world. There are many
countries that do not refer to the Azerbaijani media as a direct source; the
information transmitted by transnational media is used rather than the official
data. The information in these media bodies is basically manipulative and does
not reflect reality. It should be noted that in our day, the media has become
uncontrolled and has become widely used for terrorist propaganda and spreading
disinformation. Especially information spread in areas where war or terror is
widespread, can direct the international community's judiciary at one time.
Although these shares are useful in shaping ideas about what's going on in that
area, but false reporting causes great damage. We accept that both sides have
their own historical facts, documents, more precisely, their own truths. But
the principle of justice is broken here. Because many media are referring to
the Armenian media when writing from the region. We understand that Azerbaijan
has less information in foreign languages in the virtual world in comparison
with them. To maintain this balance, we have created an internet TV called
Garabagh TV and analytical website in Azerbaijan. (http://www.karabakh-tv.org).
After all, one-sided approach to
conflict is unfair. The International Law on Justice requires that journalists
should listen to both sides when referring to it. Journalists should ensure
that the audience is provided with reliable and impartial information that the
society has the right information about the existing conflict. Journalists
should contribute to the resolution of the conflict by this way. The journalist
must understand the role and responsibility of the media during conflicts,
provide information to the community without provocation, and assist the other
parties in finding ways to resolve the conflict. Communication is one of the
most important means of resolving the conflict. There is a need for a dialogue
between the sides for the two sides to make a peaceful decision. This kind of
communications is accompanied by a peaceful settlement of the conflict or
dispute. It is here that the leading role of journalism is reflected in the
conflict resolution. They should try to connect other parties and listen to new
ideas.
Just like Garabagh TV, we do not
need false propaganda and presentation. We just want to look at our TV and use
it as a reference. Good coverage of the conflict, impartial and accurate
information can help reduce conflicts, and journalists have an important role
in this. Listening to the both sides and referring to the opinions of both
parties.
We have
prepared an appeal by believing you. At least you can publish a statement
and show a fair approach.
